(i) The question paper comprises of two sections, A and B. You are to attempt both the sections.
(ii) All questions are compulsory.
(iii) There is no overall choice. However, internal choice has been provided in all the five questions of five marks category. Only one option in such questions is to be attempted.
(iv) All questions of section A and all questions of section B are to be attempted separately.
(v) Questions 1 to 3 in section A are one mark questions. These are to be answered in one word or in one sentence.
(vi) Questions 4 to 7 in section A are two marks questions. These are to be answered in about 30 words each.
(vii) Questions 8 to 19 in section A are three marks questions. These are to be answered in about 50 words each.
(viii) Questions 20 to 24 in section A are five marks questions. These are to be answered in about 70 words each.
(ix) Questions 25 to 42 in section B are multiple choice questions based on practical skills. Each question is a one mark question. You are to select one most appropriate response out of the four provided to you.
Section A
1. Arrange the three states of matter in increasing order of their compressibility.

(b) provides flexibility in plants
7. (a) What is photo period ?
(b) What are Rabi and Kharif crops ? Give 2 examples each.
8. A substance ‘X’ on heating gives Y and Z. What is X - an element or a compound ? State two differences between an element and a compound.
9. A driver of train travelling at a speed of 15 m/s applies brakes and retards the train uniformly. The train stops in 5 seconds. Another train B is travelling on a parallel track with a speed of 10 m/s. It’s driver applies brakes and the train stops in 10 seconds retarding uniformly.
(a) Plot speed-time graphs for train A and train B on the same paper.
(b) Calculate graphically which of the trains travelled farther after the brakes were applied.
10. A car of mass 1000 kg moving with a velocity of 40 km/h collides with a tree and comes to stop in 5s. Calculate the force exerted by the car on the tree.
